about

This was just an experiment inspired by The Recording Revolution, who challenged viewers to write, record, mix, master, and release one song in one month. I learned a lot from the experience of being forced to move forward to the next step even when I would have liked to stay on a point in the process. Above all, many thanks go to Graham Cochrane, whose challenge actually inspired some of the lyrics for the song! While the tune is far from perfect, I have reached the deadline and have to put it out there as is if I'm to honor the spirit of the event. So, for better or worse, sharing it with you and hope that you enjoy.

If you're not planning to download the song here at Bandcamp, you can also listen to a higher quality streaming mastered version of this song here:

If you're interested, I literally followed along in public with a Youtube series of videos that tried as close as possible to follow Graham's posted videos about what was expected to be accomplished at each stage of the process. If you're interested in seeing how the song was built, you can view the five part series at my Youtube channel here:

lyrics

"SING YOUR SONG"

Pen to paper in the hall at the wall
Missive challenge for something to scrawl
Shyness takes the reins
Reconsider all you knew before
Doubtful future that you can't absorb
Accidental fate
Recover the daring to take pains with gains
Take two, I'm over you
Defeat and the fool's paradise fraternize to capsize your design

Sing Your Song
No matter if it's great or long
Broken or strong
Keep your treasure where your heart is and sing your song

Not so mightier than the sword
Double back to that second chord
Suspect is the phrase
Break down the bridge and sail over the lake
Trade a dollar for a dime to fix the mistake
Confidence betrays

Reveal your story to explain that way
Do it for the love and not for the likes
Promising you will recognize your place in time

Sing Your Song
No matter if it's great or long
Broken or strong
Keep your treasure where your heart is and sing your song

Veer to the left and not to the right
Passengers follow and criticize your tracing lines
Canvas and colours ready to last
Solid as steel with the look of glass
Extreme decline
Rise

Sing Your Song
No matter if it's great or long
Broken or strong
Keep your treasure where your heart is and sing your song
